PLEON at work in Russia

Closer alignment with BBDO expands service offering

Moscow - Pleon, the European communications consultancy, and communications group BBDO have joined together to extend their range of services in Russia. The two Omnicom-owned companies have officially combined their Russian operations to take advantage of local talent and expertise while delivering broader international resources to their clients.

Tatiana Nikulshina, Pleon’s CEO in Russia says economic ties between Russia and Europe are stronger than ever and were a key factor in the timing of the BBDO/Pleon alliance. Russia’s international sales are rapidly growing with over 60 percent of its business coming from the EU. There has been an increase in Russian-led IPO’s in London and major acquisitions by Russian companies in Montenegro, Czech Republic, Italy, Finland, Romania and England.

"With such tremendous growth, our clients have a real need for more internationally aligned marketing and communications services,” commented Nikulshina. “This initiative combines access to key European markets with a deep understanding and broad practical experi-ence of working in Russia."

"Our clients have changed," adds Ella Stewart, Chairman of BBDO’s Russian Board of Di-rectors. "A growing economy, maturing market and heightened competition in all segments create tougher communications tasks for the business. Integrated marketing solutions are increasingly becoming a matter of priority. Clients look for a business partner who can devise multi-faceted strategies encompassing all communications elements – advertising, media, branding, interactive, BTL, public relations – and implement it at the highest profes-sional level possible. The addition of Pleon to the BBDO Russia group of companies makes us such a partner for our clients."

Established earlier this year, Pleon Russia specializes in integrated communications pro-grams for Russian and international clients including Russian and international media rela-tions, event management, crisis communications and internal communications.

A number of European companies are already benefiting from the combined international expertise of Pleon and BBDO. For example, the Moscow office has conducted a number of pilot projects for Henkel, Protek and Standard & Poor’s and the team was recently engaged by Pleon’s Swiss team to implement a local media relations project on behalf of one of the largest international CAD software producers. "We aspire to become a top of mind consul-tancy for any company contemplating professional communications support in Europe," says Nikulshina.
