Pleon Launches New Practice in Energy and Appoints New Leadership in Public Affairs

Pleon, Europe’s leading communications consultancy for PR and Public Affairs, has launched a new Energy Practice and appointed new leadership in Public Affairs.

Pleon’s new Energy Practice will be headed by René Mono from Pleon Berlin, who will lead a European-wide team of communications experts addressing both the political and communications issues around rising energy prices, the approaching peak of oil, nuclear renaissance vs. nuclear phase-out, disputes over how to combat climate change and the uncertainty around appropriate alternative energy sources.  Mono has been with Pleon since 2004 and brings expertise in the areas of energy, climate policy, environmental regulation, transport and logistics, water management and public services.

“In recent years the energy markets have evolved into the pivotal branch of the European economy,” says Tim de Boer, Head of the European Practices at Pleon. “That's why energy companies strongly need communication solutions that cover the challenges arising from these developments. Climate change is only the most striking example in this context. With our deep experience and insights in the industry, Pleon is uniquely positioned to design and implement communication solutions that are tailored to the needs of national, European or global companies."

Simultaneous to the new practice, Pleon also announced that Cornelius Winter will be stepping down as Head of Pleon Public Affairs to focus on running Pleon’s Berlin and Brussels operations.  Taking over for Winter will be Peter Lochbihler in Brussels and Bettina Göthel who will manage the Public Affairs team in Germany.  The Public Affairs Practice is a crucial linchpin in the success of the Pleon Energy team, providing unique insights and access to regional and pan-European issues.

“The new practice and leaders will allow Pleon to bundle and systemize in-depth knowledge and provide an institutionalized platform for an exchange of information. This puts Pleon in the position of better serving existing clients and focusing business development in these sectors,” explained de Boer.
